My art business began about twenty years ago, and quite differently from the thing it has now evolved into. In the beginning it was C.R. Wearables -- jewelry and hand-painted clothing that I designed, produced, and marketed. I traveled the arts and crafts show circuit around the state and enjoyed much success. The next step in its evolution was a gradual shift to visual fine art, and the production of commissioned art work. A camera became a need, so I could photograph and study subjects before painting them, and also to compile a record of my work. I purchased a Minolta film camera. Inevitably, I began to indulge a newfound love of photography for its own sake, taking many photos of scenes and subjects that I simply wanted to capture and preserve. No longer a good fit for craft shows, the selling part of the business went dormant as Full Life Studio/Designs came into being. I began to do public speaking, as an advocate for increasing community awareness of domestic and sexual abuse. I had the privilege of participating in several gallery exhibits and presentations demonstrating the therapeutic effects of artistic expression for abuse victims. Further, I provided education through the implementation of workshops, for teens and adults, at a local community center. The computer age entered my life, along with a digital camera, and I began a shift toward graphic design. Now my focus includes computer based art. For the past couple of years, I have photographed activities, campers, and horses for Youth Day Camp at Sun Fire Stables. The great love of my life is capturing photos of God's awesome glory, as He displays glimpses of it in His creation all around us. The photos speak for themselves, as they showcase how "the heavens declare the glory of the Lord, and the firmament proclaims His handiwork." (Ps. 19: 1, paraphrased) |
